My entrepreneurial streak began in earnest with an experiment called Industrial Strength Promotions (ISP). I had recently gotten an insider’s look into the music and entertainment business as the reluctant regional representative of Athens and Atlanta, Georgia markets for ASCAP (American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers), detailed in another category. Soon, I was producing content for aspiring writers and performers. From bios to photography sessions to websites and show flyers, that’s how it started. Later, I took the ISP moniker and applied it to an interest that was showing signs of paying off even after the dot com bubble burst. Internet Site Promotions was launched in ’05 and found its way in to the ultra-competitive real estate technology market. By the time I read “The Search: How Google and Its Rivals Rewrote the Rules of Business and Transformed Our Culture,” I was convinced that Search Engine Optimization (SEO) was my cash cow.
